Program
kl. 11.00—11.45: The Art of ‘Writing’ Back
Nigerian lawyer, storyteller and human rights researcher, David Nnanna C. Ikpo presents his debut novel Fimisile Forever and explores the importance of the inclusion of non-legal methods and initiatives in the protection of queer community.
kl. 12.45—13.30: Love is a Conflict: Doing History as Activist Work
American writer and researcher living in Berlin, Ben Miller interrogates why and how we care about the history of social movements, especially queer ones.
kl. 13.45—14.30: Immigrants in the Sexual Revolution
Andrew DJ Shield, Ph.D., is a researcher at Roskilde University, Denmark. He will talk about his first book, Immigrants in the Sexual Revolution (2017) which focuses on northwest Europe during the latter half of the twentieth century, when some foreign workers and (post-)colonial migrants felt solidarity with, and even participated in, European social movements that changed norms and laws in favor of women’s equality, gay and lesbian rights, and sexual liberation. These histories challenge today’s politicians and journalists who strategically link immigration to sexual conservatism, misogyny, and homophobia.
kl. 14.45—15.30: Assigned Male
Canadian activist and cartoonist, Sophie Labelle, shares the journey of her controversial webcomic and its world renowned role in the Transgender Movement.
